While driving from San
Francisco to Chicago, we decided to take a much-needed detour
off I-80 and visit Medicine Bow National Forest in Wyoming
(location below on map). We climbed (in the car) well
above 10,000 feet and were rewarded with amazing views and,
almost as spectacularly, very few humans. Take a look at
the pics here and the web site for the forest as well
here.
Various lunch stops in Nevada. Kind of
reminds one of something from a long-lost "Brady Bunch"
adventure.
We kept wondering where to
eat, then saw the sign advertising "Madonna's Classic
Kitchen." in a "Will and Jack" moment, we turned to each
other and said, "Let's go there!" (The inside picture proves
that it wasn't that Madonna.
Medicine Bow National Forest - Wyoming
Libby Flats - elevation 10,817. Note how
clean the air and ground are - not enough tourists for
litter. We had the whole monument to ourselves for awhile.
